CALMING THE SEAS
But He said to them, “Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?” Then He arose and rebuked the winds and sea, and there was a great calm.
Matt. 8:26 (NKJV)
As Jesus and the disciples crossed the Sea of Galilee in a small boat, a fierce storm suddenly arose. These storms are common on the Sea of Galilee. They are very severe, but they come without warning. Jesus was so weary that He fell asleep and not even the storm could wake Him. What a wonderful picture of Christ’s humanity, just prior to His display of deity when the winds and waves obey His command.
The disciples were frightened because they thought that they would drown. They awoke Jesus. After His rebuke for their lack in faith, Jesus calmed the sea and the wind. Notice Matthew states that it was a “great” calm. The sea suddenly calmed down without the tossing that would normally continue after a storm is over.
As we sail on life’s sea, we encounter many different storms, such as: a financial disaster, illness, or the loss of a loved one. Our storms are usually unexpected, just like the storms on the Sea of Galilee. We can be tossed around in a sea of anxiety, despair or weakness. Like the disciples, we can cry out to Jesus to calm our storm. He is with us just as He was in the boat with the disciples.
Lord,
Strengthen our faith and calm our storms. Thank You, amen.

HIKING THE TRAIL
The disciples marveled that the winds and the sea obeyed Jesus, but diseases and death must obey Him also. As you encounter stormy seas, remember Christ is in control, and trust Him. Prayerfully examine yourself, and search for anything that is hindering your ability to trust God.

“Like the disciples, we can cry out to Jesus to calm our storm. He is with us just as He was in the boat with the disciples.” I’m always thrown into the pit of alluring peace each time His Spirit reminds me of this present truth, He IS WITH me!
Thank you Carol for yet another reminder!
God bless you.

Finally…I got here Carolyn. This is beautiful and timely! My storm right now is a total loss vehicle. God has truly given me peace in the process of finding another. More than anything I am blessed to be alive…so Him giving me the ability to keep that in perspective is calming in and of itself! Bless you for being among God’s great writing voices.

Thank you, and praise God that you are safe. I’ll be praying for you. I could have never set up my blog without my husband, and I think once it’s set up, it’s easier for readers to comment, share …than other blogs. Have a blessed day!

Amen. Jesus can quiet the storms in our lives. I will choose to trust in the Lord even when the storms rages on, for the Lord who walks on water can keep the winds calm. Thank you.

It is so human nature that we give in to fear when the storm in our lives is becoming strong. This is a beautiful reminder that we need to fear not, because God can indeed calm the storm. Nothing is impossible for Him.
I wish you a calmer and fearless 2015! #bloggercare
