The Faith of Noah

THE FAITH OF NOAH

By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.
Heb. 11:7 (NKJV)

If God commanded you to do something that made no sense to you, would you spend the rest of your life doing it? Noah spent 120 years building an ark to save his family from the upcoming flood (Gen. 6:3). Noah had never seen rain, not even one drop because it had never rained.

God gave Noah specific instructions to build this ark which was quite large. As he worked daily, cutting the boards and putting them in place, he preached to those who must have watched him with their ridicule and mocking. Surely, they did not help him with the work. So, Noah and his sons continued working and warning others of the judgment to come.

Noah never argued with God. He never complained about his aching back from the hard labor. He worked each day, year after year because of his great faith. He trusted God in a situation that did not make sense at the time.

What if Noah had given up because he saw no results from his work, or he had been filled with anxiety rather than trust? His faith and his obedience was a great witness to his family, and it glorified God. That should be the desire of every Christian.

Many situations in life do not make sense. We cannot understand why God allows certain things to happen. God has purposes that we cannot comprehend, and we have to trust Him rather than allowing the situation to tear us apart which is a horrible witness. Have faith like Noah which will bring glory to God and it will be a wonderful testimony to all. You are serving the same God that Noah served. God has not changed. Trust Him!

Father,
Thank You for Your patience and faithfulness to me. My faith in You must increase, and my doubts must decrease. When I trust You, there is no room for worry or fear. I know that You have seen the outcome of my trials, and I trust You, even though it doesn’t make sense now. Amen.

Read Gen. 6.

HIKING THE TRAIL
The greatest faith is the faith that trusts God when things do not make sense. As you pray for stronger faith, consider the things that cause worry, fear, and doubt in your mind.
