No Need To Worry

NO NEED TO WORRY

By Carolyn Dale Newell

“Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or

What you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?”

Matt. 6:25 NKJV

Jesus commanded us not to worry. It is a sin. What does it say to God and to others when we don’t trust Him to provide for us? As children, did we ask our parents if there was enough food for dinner? Did we ask them if we would have clothes to wear? No, and we should not worry about things when God supplies our every need.

We fail to understand God’s promises and resources. He has promised to supply “all your need according to His riches…” (Phil. 4:19). His supply is according to all of His riches, not just a portion of them.

There is also a failure to understand God’s provisions and the depths of His love. He created us, and Christ died for us, meeting our greatest need as our Savior. Why would He save us and then neglect us, leaving us to our own means to survive?

Jesus uses the birds as an example. God feeds them. “Are you not of more value than they?” (Matt. 6:26). If God feeds the birds, certainly He will feed us. Food may not be something you worry about, but it was a great concern for the Jews. They did not have refrigerators or Wal-Mart. Most of their food had to be acquired daily.

We need to understand God’s sovereignty. He has a purpose for the life of every Christian. That is why Jesus told them that life is more than food and clothing. He will sustain us to accomplish His purpose.

Once we comprehend all of God’s attributes, we must trust Him to take care of us. There is no need to worry about the necessities of life. We are the children of the King.

Father, forgive us when we begin to worry about things. Help us trust in Your wonderful provisions. Thank You for Your amazing care. Amen.

HIKING THE TRAIL

With today’s rising grocery prices, worrying about food is a legitimate concern for some people. If you are in that situation, I would love to pray for you. If you are not struggling to purchase food, look around your church and neighborhood to find someone who you can help.
