WHY
Though He slay me, yet I will trust Him. –Job 13:15a
Why do severe tornadoes devastate towns? Why do terrorists kill and maim so many people? Why are you going through a storm right now? Many times, we never know God’s purpose in trials, but one thing we do know – we can trust Him.
If we lack wisdom, we can ask God and He will give it to us liberally, but we must ask in faith, not doubting (James 1:5-6). The only way we can have peace during these times is to have total trust in God. As Christians mature, their faith will increase.
When you, the passenger, are going to a vacation destination, you don’t need to know the route. Only the driver needs to know. Trust god to lead you even if the way is unclear, and don’t be a back seat driver.
Although the purpose may be unclear, there are some benefits to trials. They will cause you to depend on God more. They will keep you in the Bible and in prayer. They will enable you to help others when they go through their own trials. They will make heaven sweeter because it is a place where there is no pain, no sorrow, and no tears.
On a personal note, I would never trade my visual impairment for sight if it meant that I would have to give up the closeness I feel with God. Every step I take is literally one of faith, and yours should be also.
We must trust God completely without wavering, without doubting, without the back and forth movement like the waves (James 1:6). Our trust must be firmly rooted in God because He is in control. God has a plan, and we don’t have to understand it. Trust Him!
