Throwback Thursday: Peace With God

PEACE WITH GOD

Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God

Through our Lord Jesus Christ,

Rom. 1:5 (NKJV)

Isn’t it encouraging for Christians, those who are “justified by faith”, to be at peace with God? After salvation, we are no longer His enemies. Verse 10 of the same chapter tells us, “For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.” Colossians 1:20, speaking of Jesus, states, “having made peace through the blood of His cross.”

Not only are we no longer His enemies, but peace with God also gives Christians a peace in their hearts. Jesus told the disciples in the upper room, “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you, not as the world gives do I give to you let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” Jesus explained that they had “His peace” before they faced the hardest trial of their lives, His death. When the world rages around us, we have “His peace”. We are not at war with God and we have the same peace that Jesus gave the disciples. Notice that His peace is not like the peace of the world. It is a divine peace.

If you’re not feeling peace, ask yourself a few questions. Am I truly saved? Am I appropriating His peace? Pray and ask God to let you feel His peace. Thanks be to Jesus Christ for dying so we can have peace with god Thanks for rising to continually give us peace in our hearts.

Dear heavenly Father,

Thank You for Your gift of Jesus Christ so that we can be at peace with You. Help me to always feel Your peace in my heart even while the world around me is anything but peaceful. In Jesus name, amen.

DIG DEEPER

Read Col.1:20-21.

HIKING THE TRAIL

Is there anything in your life that you don’t have peace about? Continue to pray about that issue until it has been resolved.
