MOUNTAIN CLIMBING
The Lord God is my strength;
He will make my feet like deer’s feet,
And He will make me walk on my high hills. –Hab. 3:19a
It is amazing how God has enabled animals to not only survive, but to thrive in their natural habitats. Some live in oceans, some live in pastures and others, like the deer in this verse live on the cliffs of the mountains. These types of animals are surefooted because of the way God created their feet. There is a mountain goat in the U.S. which lives in the heights of the Rocky Mountains. The bottom of their feet is made like mountain climbing boots. If God has done this for the animals, won’t He do even more for us (Matt. 6:26)?
As Christians journey through life, there are mountains to climb. These are the trials of life, with burdens to bear, and it feels like you cannot make one more step up that mountainside. Yet God has equipped us to climb, just like the deer and the mountain goat. He is our strength. “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.”(1 Cor. 10:13). The Greek word which is translated “temptation” can also be translated as “trial”.
God must really want us to understand that He has strengthened His children to climb these mountains. It is also found in2 Sam. 22:34 and Psalm 18:33. What is your mountain? Thank You God, for abundant strength!
